I know the weather has been atrocious lately, with months' worth of rain falling in a handful of days and half the country affected by floods. But I was still startled to see the Daily Specials board in a Kendal cafe the other day, which offered the interesting dish of "Leak and Potato Soup". Ten out of ten for honesty, perhaps, although we didn't dare ask if it tasted like dish water...
